Dining in Downtown Providence

American-style cuisine can be found at over a half dozen restaurants located in the downtown Providence area. Places like Aspire, in the theater district, offer brunch and dinner hours as well as a drinks lounge, called the A-bar. Their menu includes salads, sandwiches, and steaks, and also regional favorite seafood offerings such as crab and lobster cakes, calamari, clam chowder, and lobster sliders. For a more interactive experience, the Fire and Ice Bar and Grill located in the Providence Place Mall allows visitors to choose from a variety of meats, seafood, pastas, vegetables, and sauces. These ingredients are then grilled in the middle of the main restaurant area by a skilled chef while visitors watch.

French-style cuisine can also be found in the downtown area, at restaurants such as Bravo Brasserie and Pot Au Feu. A melding together of French bistro and American grill, Bravo Brasserie has both a restaurant and lounge and is open for brunch, lunch and dinner every day but Monday (when it is only open for dinner). It also has a banquet facility and catering services. Their menu includes gourmet burgers and sandwiches, cold and hot appetizers, steak, chops, pasta, and seafood. With a much more French-inspired menu, Pot Au Feu claims to be one of the oldest French bistros in America and holds a four-star rating. Their menu includes hors d'oeuvres such as bisque, Foie Gras, and Pate, as well as traditional French entrees and a dinner menu that changes on a regular basis.

Restaurants such as Jacky's Waterplace Restaurant and Pakarang offer Asian-style cuisine. Jacky's is a restaurant and sushi bar, open for lunch, dinner, and takeout. They have an extensive wine and sake list and offer both inside and outdoor balcony dining. Their menu includes a variety of sushi as well as cooked entrees such as tempura, teriyaki, noodles, and rice. Pakarang is a Thai restaurant open for lunch and dinner every day but Monday. Their menu includes curry, noodles, and soup dishes.

Almost a half dozen steakhouses are located in the area, including the Capital Grille, a "casually elegant" restaurant and bar. Their lunch menu includes soups, salads, seafood, sandwiches, and steaks. Their dinner menu is a more expanded form of the lunch menu, with pasta or vegetable side dishes, steaks, chops, and seafood. Their bar hosts its own food menu that includes gourmet sandwiches and burgers. Ten Prime Steak and Sushi offers a multi-sensory experience for diners, including an artistic setting, Latin music, sound effects, and bubble "showers." They are open for lunch and dinner during the week, but only dinner on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Their menu includes hot and cold appetizers, Nigiri and rolled sushi, soups, salads, seafood, and designer steaks.
